Dr. Özge Derman is a Paris-based movement educator, researcher, and certified educator for Balanced Body Education. Her work brings together over fifteen years of experience in Pilates, yoga, and dance with an academic background in the study of movement, performance, and collective action.
Originally trained in contemporary dance, she holds the French Diplôme d’État in contemporary and jazz dance and has been a comprehensive Pilates instructor with Balanced Body. Her teaching emphasizes precision of movement, anatomical awareness, and the development of a thoughtful, creative, and confident pedagogical voice.
Özge founded and directed a dance, Pilates, and yoga studio in Istanbul from 2010 to 2019. She now teaches Pilates and yoga in Paris while training future instructors through the Balanced Body Education program.
In parallel with her movement practice, she is a sociologist and researcher specializing in performance and collective action. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales and teaches courses on culture, sociology, and movement at Sciences Po.
Her interdisciplinary approach bridges embodied practice and critical inquiry, bringing a distinctive perspective to the teaching of Pilates and the study of movement in contemporary society.
